myCare Career Opportunities

At myCare, many of our senior staff started as junior carers. We believe in providing opportunities to build our staff’s experience and expertise so that they can develop their careers.

Career Progression

As a home care worker, there are many opportunities for you to progress into different roles. Many home care workers use their skills to become care practitioners, supervisors or trainers. Home care work is a great way to get started in the industry and build your understanding of people’s needs.

Being able to move forward with your career and explore different options is something we value at myCare. We acknowledge the experiences gained with us and provide additional training for our staff to explore other options. Whether you want to delve into recruiting, administration or leadership positions, we are ready to support you.

Employee Engagement

At myCare, we work to create an encouraging and welcoming environment for all our employees. Carers deserve support just as much as the people they care for. As such, we provide access to an Employee Assitance Programme by Health Assured to all our staff. With this programme, our staff have access to free legal advice and counselling.

Likewise, we understand how difficult it can be to reach out. Our team and leadership structure is designed so that you find great advice and support easily. Building a great community is what we strive for.

Accessible Training

With the right training, anything is possible. At myCare, we offer e-learning modules so you can build the basic knowledge and tools needed to begin providing care. With VR technology, you can build your understanding of those we support and learn from practical situations.

But training from a distance can only get you so far. We make sure all our employees complete two days in a classroom environment. This allows you to speak with your peers and learn directly from professionals. Sharing knowledge and experience is the best way to build skills and a supportive community.

Once your training is finished, you will complete at least three shadow shifts. This allows you to follow more experienced supervisors and workers to learn in a hands-on way. At myCare, we believe in creating a framework that supports every staff member.

Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ)

If you want to build your skills and capabilities, pursuing a Scottish Vocational Qualification, SVQ, with us is a great opportunity. An SVQ in the care industry indicates that you have met the national standards for working as a carer.

At myCare, we offer SVQ levels 2 and 3. Our workers can pursue these qualifications in-house with us. These levels are designed to help build your communication skills and improve your ability to navigate risk while caring. With these training qualifications, you will be better equipped to face different scenarios. Likewise, you can build skills to better process and reflect on your experiences.

Along with providing trainers and assessors, we can also cover the costs of training. With an agreed time commitment to providing care, you can have access to these opportunities.

Currently, we have 78 candidates enrolled in our SVQ training programme across all our sites. 48 of our enrolled candidates are currently working and providing care with us, and 30 candidates have finished their SVQs. Completing an SVQ is easy with our support.
