Spring is a time of renewal. As the days grow longer and energy levels begin to rise, many people start thinking about their future: where they are, where they want to go, and how they can grow.

At myCare, this sense of possibility is reflected in our commitment to career progression through clear, achievable pathways, supporting people at every stage of their journey.

Career progression at myCare isn’t about ticking boxes or following a one-size-fits-all route. It’s about recognising potential, nurturing confidence, and providing real opportunities to grow. If you’re interested in making a career change, get in touch with us today.

What are myCare’s Clear Pathways?

myCare’s Clear Pathways are designed to show employees exactly what progression can look like within the organisation. From care worker roles through to coordinators, supervisors, and senior leadership, each step is clearly mapped out, with training, mentoring, and support available along the way.

For those starting out, Clear Pathways provides reassurance that care can be a long-term career, not just a job. For those already progressing, they offer structure, encouragement, and recognition of experience gained on the ground.

Importantly, Clear Pathways are built around real people and real journeys, not abstract promises.

Director June-Lee McKenzie’s myCare Journey

One of the most powerful examples of progression within myCare is the journey of Director, June-Lee McKenzie.

June-Lee has been part of the myCare family for 27 years, having started her career as a care worker. She did not come from a university-educated background, nor did she enter the organisation with senior leadership aspirations. Instead, she began with a commitment to caring for people and a strong work ethic (values that continue to define her leadership today).

Through hands-on experience, continuous learning, and the support of the organisation, June-Lee progressed through a range of roles, gaining a deep understanding of care delivery from the ground up. Her journey from frontline care worker to director demonstrates that progression at myCare is achievable, realistic, and rooted in lived experience.

June-Lee’s story is especially important because it shows that leadership doesn’t have to follow a traditional or academic route. With dedication, support, and opportunity, people can build meaningful, senior careers regardless of where they start.

More Than one Success Story

June-Lee’s journey is not unique. Across myCare, many coordinators, supervisors, and senior team members began their careers as care workers (often with no prior experience in the care sector).

Some started simply looking for stable employment; others were drawn to care through a desire to help people. What they found at myCare was an organisation willing to invest in them.

Through Clear Pathways, staff are encouraged to develop at their own pace. Training opportunities, shadowing, mentoring, and practical experience all play a role in helping individuals grow into new responsibilities. For many, progression has meant stepping into coordinator or supervisor roles, where they now support both clients and fellow care workers, passing on the same encouragement they once received.

A Family Culture That Creates Opportunity

At the heart of myCare’s approach to progression is its family culture. Staff are not viewed as numbers or temporary resources, but as individuals with potential.

This culture encourages open conversations about goals, ambitions, and development. Managers take the time to recognise strengths and support next steps, whether that’s additional responsibility, further training, or a move into a new role.

For many employees, this sense of belongingis what gives them the confidence to step forward. Knowing that they are supported (and that others have successfully progressed before them) makes growth feel possible.

What Clear Pathways Means for Those on the Journey

For staff currently moving through Clear Pathways, the experience is often transformational. Progression brings not only new skills and responsibilities, but also increased confidence and pride.

Employees gain a stronger understanding of the wider organisation, develop leadership skills, and build resilience. Just as importantly, they maintain a close connection to frontline care (ensuring that decision-making remains compassionate, practical, and people-focused).

For those who have completed their progression journeys, Clear Pathways offers a sense of achievement and purpose. Many become mentors themselves, supporting new starts and demonstrating what is possible within myCare.

Looking Ahead This Spring

As spring approaches, it’s a natural time to reflect on growth and possibility. myCare’s Clear Pathways are a reminder that development doesn’t require a perfect starting point; just opportunity, support, and belief.

Whether someone joins myCare as a care worker with no prior experience or with ambitions they haven’t yet voiced, there is room to grow. The journeys of June-Lee McKenzie and many others show that with commitment and a supportive culture, people can build fulfilling, long-term careers.

At myCare, progression isn’t reserved for a few. It’s part of who we are. When we invest in our people, everyone benefits: our staff, our clients, and the communities we support.
