What is Live-in Care?

A live-in care service provides around the clock home care for adults and the elderly who may need this level of support to continue living in their own home and community. myCare will provide you with your own, dedicated live in care worker who is always available, day or night, in your own home to help you.

Who has live in care?

A wide range of people receive live in care, from those who have become elderly and frail, have a terminal illness or complex care needs, have physical disabilities, to mental health support needs or a learning disability.

We also provide live in care for elderly people who may have become lonely and isolated due to them being less able to get around and have no family close by. The live-in care service provides not only the support required but also friendship and companionship.

myCare’s live-in care service provides our clients with the reassurance of 24-hour support in the comfort of their own homes. It makes a huge difference to our client’s lives having that special person by their side offering a quality of life, excellent care and constant support – and often makes the fundamental difference between an older person needing to be placed in a residential care setting or being able to remain in their own home.

We are committed to ensuring that all our live-in carers are appropriately skilled and experienced through rigorous recruitment and selection processes and our mandatory induction and training programme.

We provide a bespoke live-in care and support service that’s tailored to the individual needs of each client and we go to great lengths to ensure that each carer will fit in effortlessly with our client’s home life and situation.

Our live-in care service allows people to enjoy an independent life in the comfort of their own home and around those they love most.

Our live-in care services include:

  • Companionship and socialising
  • Assisting with outings and community based activity and appointments
  • Social care support and encouragement
  • Preparing meals and support with eating
  • Providing prompts, reminders and administration of medication
  • Personal care and assistance including washing, bathing and dressing
  • Managing continence
  • Laundry, shopping and light housework
  • Making appointments, maintaining records, keeping diaries

We will do whatever we can to ensure our clients maintain a healthy, happy home life with choice and independence.

Many of the initial calls we receive are from families who are unsure about the type of support they require, and are worried about having an as-yet unknown carer in their home. We understand. Our experienced led team are here to walk with you through the evolution of your care journey, to address your questions and concerns and to find the care – and carer – that is best matched for you and your needs.


Live-in care options

  • Short term – for a few days just to make things easier, perhaps for a holiday or special occasion
  • Long term – an alternative to residential care. Companionship and support with the comfort of remaining in your own home.
  • Convalescence care – recuperation tailored to individual needs and adapted as you return to health following ill health or a hospital stay
  • Respite – a much needed break for a family carer
