While many people want to remain in their homes for as long as possible, even as they age or their condition progresses, sometimes this just isn’t feasible. Perhaps their home has stairs or other features that make accessibility difficult, they live too far away from family and other support systems, or the level of care they require isn’t available in that area.

If you are exploring housing and care options in the Aberdeen area for yourself or a loved one, Victoria Grange – a very sheltered housing complex located in Dyce – may be just the solution you’re looking for.

The passionate and qualified team at myCare is eager to provide their clients with the support they deserve. While we believe that home care is a fantastic option for many people, we understand that it’s not a possibility for everyone and seek to make every environment feel like home.

What to Expect in Very Sheltered Housing

Victoria Grange is a purpose-built complex that combines the independence of living in your own flat with the reassurance of having 24-hour on-site support. Residents enjoy their own one- or two-bedroom flats, complete with central heating and lift access to all floors. Communal facilities include a restaurant, resource centre, residents’ lounge, laundry services, and even guest bedrooms that friends and family can book through Castlehill’s main office.

The complex is designed to provide a secure, supportive, and sociable environment. There is a door entry system for added security, as well as a scheme manager call system and fire alarm system throughout. This ensures peace of mind for both residents and their loved ones.

Who Might Benefit from Sheltered Housing?

Anyone who is elderly or living with a condition that impacts their ability to perform everyday tasks may find sheltered housing a suitable option. It is ideal for those who want to maintain their independence but benefit from on-site support and community living.

Signs that someone might benefit from this type of housing include difficulties with daily tasks, increasing falls, feelings of isolation, or needing assistance with medication and personal care. Sheltered housing like Victoria Grange offers a balance of independence and support, tailored to individual needs.

Welcome to Victoria Grange

Located in the suburb of Dyce, only six miles northwest of Aberdeen city, Victoria Grange offers 35 one-bedroom flats and 4 two-bedroom flats. The complex provides a warm and welcoming environment where residents can thrive, supported by on-site care and management staff.

Communal facilities include a restaurant serving daily meals, a resource centre for activities and events, a residents’ lounge, laundry services, and guest bedrooms for visiting family and friends. Charleston Farm supplies freshly prepared meals daily, with locally sourced produce delivered three times a week, ensuring high-quality dining for residents.

What Services and Support are Available at Victoria Grange?

Victoria Grange provides a wide range of care and support services, including personal care (such as bathing and toileting), medication management, social activities, and housing support (including laundry and assistance with repairs). A team of housing support workers is available 24 hours a day, including overnight staff, to ensure residents receive the help they need.

Similar to home care, the support provided is tailored to each resident’s unique needs and reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet their requirements.

What are Meals Like at Victoria Grange?

Residents at Victoria Grange can enjoy a hot, freshly prepared three-course meal every day in the on-site restaurant. These meals are provided by Charleston Farm, known for their commitment to local, high-quality produce. Deliveries are made three times a week to guarantee freshness.

In 2024, Charleston Farm also kindly donated a Christmas tree, which was placed outside the complex, adding to the festive spirit and sense of community at Victoria Grange.
